You can not be against gun violence and support somebody getting shot.

The sentence is simple enough, and prior to yesterday I would have presumed it was common sense to everyone.

Unfortunately, yet again this world has proven how senseless, and frankly psychotic, it really is.

Being upset when someone is murdered is not a political statement. It is morals, empathy, sympathy, and above all: Human decency.

"Fascist down." I saw somebody repost.

It's funny because last time I checked the fascists weren't the ones wanting to have a civil debate. They were the ones killing people for their beliefs.

"Free speech doesn't mean freedom from the consequences." I saw somebody comment.

Interesting, last time I checked murder is a federal crime and not a "consequence" of free speech.

Interestingly except under a authoriatarian government. Or in the minds of those who believe there should be one.

"Free speech doesn't mean freedom from the consequences." Means you can still be fired, you can still be cancelled on social media, you can still be yelled at by someone on the street. It doesn't mean you can be murdered.

This world is truly full of evil people, and yesterday proved it.

Inglourious Basterds is a horror movie, and it will never be anything else.

I believe the best horror movies were never intended to be horrifying. That's what makes them so effective.

The best horror movies were written to sound heroic. They fool people into believing twisted realities that will never be true.

I do not say this in any defence of Nazis, but rather in defence of humanity.

Evil fighting evil is still evil. You are still the villain even if you are fighting another villain.

Killing and blaming prisoners of war for their governemnts actions is not justice and it is not heroic.

Those men were drafted, they were practically children.

People love the movie because of its violence. They say it's a good thing. They say they deserved it.

Now I raise you a simple question:

Would think you deserved it if your government took you away from your family at 18, shipped you off to war in a foreign country, and you were forced to take the blame by way of extreme violence?

Inglourious Basterds is a horror movie that has been twisted into the tale of a hero.

It intrigues me quite a bit that as a society people have decided certain violence is okay while other violence is not.

Where do you draw the line?

Is it only bad when someone else does it?

That's not morals, that's hypocrisy.
